THE BREAKDOWN…

China Layoffs: ADM has initiated the closure of its domestic trading operations in China, resulting in significant layoffs within its two largest business segment, Agriculture Services and Oilseeds.

EU-UK Deal: The UK is prepared to retain some regulatory alignment with the European Union and accept supervision of the bloc’s court over a deal to cut checks on imports of foods and agricultural products.

Making America Healthy: The US Agriculture Department is fast-tracking state requests to take away soda and candy from food-stamp programs. Arkansas and Indiana are among the first in line.

US-EU Food Safety: European Union food safety rules remain off the table in U.S. trade talks, as top trade officials press on with negotiations in a bid to de-escalate a trade war with US President Trump.

Tomato Tariffs: Starting in July, new fees will hit fresh tomatoes imported from Mexico after the Commerce Department decided to end an agreement that has largely been in place for the past three decades.

Federal Cuts: The US Agriculture Department is aiming to cut roughly 30,000 employees, or about 30 percent of its workforce, according to two people familiar with the situation.

Tik Tok Chocolate: TikTok trend for ‘Dubai chocolate’ causes international shortage of pistachios.
